WELLNESS SERVICES
Evidence-based counselling services for pre-teens, adolescents, young adults, and parents addressing various concerns.

For clients under 18, the initial 1-hour session involves both parents and the child, allowing us to openly discuss concerns, review past interventions, and gather clinical information. Subsequent sessions focus primarily on the adolescent or youth.
For individuals 18 and older, the initial session addresses the client's unique needs and goals without parental involvement.

Our focus may include (but is not limited to):
Anxiety | Depression | Academic Stress | School Issues | Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) | Family Conflict | Navigating Parental Divorce | Life Transitions | Mood Disorders | Parenting | Peer Relationships | Relationship Issues | Self Esteem | Stress | Suicidal Ideation | Coping Skills
Pre- Teens (10-12)
Pre-teens encounter a unique array of hurdles as they transition from childhood to adolescence. This pivotal stage is marked by profound physical, cognitive, and emotional changes, as they seek both autonomy and acceptance within their peer groups. From fluctuating self-esteem to navigating societal pressures, pre-teens grapple with identity exploration and the complexities of fitting in.

Amidst these challenges, pre-teens may struggle with emotional management, academic stress, friendship dynamics, and social hierarchies. Recognizing distress signals is crucial; some may act out, while others withdraw, indicating a need for support and understanding. Parents, rest assured: challenges your child faces aren't a reflection of your parenting. Instead, they signify a need for a supportive environment to process emotions and develop effective communication. At Prioritize Wellness, I'm dedicated to providing that safe space for both you and your pre-teen, guiding you through this vital journey together.
Adolescence (13-17)
Adolescence is a transformative phase marked by rapid physical, emotional, and cognitive changes, as individuals transition from childhood to adulthood. Amidst these shifts, adolescents grapple with establishing identity, navigating social dynamics, and managing academic pressures while seeking independence.
Therapy for adolescents offers a supportive environment to explore emotions, cope with stress, and develop healthy coping mechanisms. Through psychotherapy, adolescents enhance self-awareness, build resilience, and acquire effective problem-solving skills, empowering them to navigate challenges with confidence and emotional well-being.
Young Adult (18-25)
Young adulthood presents unique challenges as individuals transition from adolescence to adulthood. From education and career decisions to forming relationships and gaining independence, young adults navigate numerous milestones and increased responsibilities. Emotionally, they may grapple with uncertainty and anxiety amidst complex social dynamics.
Therapy offers a supportive space for young adults to explore aspirations, fears, and values, aiding in decision-making and coping with challenges. Through therapy, they build resilience, boost self-confidence, hone communication skills, and nurture healthy relationships, empowering them to thrive personally and professionally during this pivotal phase of development.

(2) FAMILY THERAPY
Family therapy acknowledges that when one member struggles, it impacts the entire family unit. By viewing conflicts and struggles within the family system, therapy addresses the collective dynamics contributing to individual challenges. Common goals include improving communication, developing coping skills, and strengthening family bonds.

At Prioritize Wellness, I support families of all sizes and compositions in navigating challenges and fostering harmony. Through therapy, we identify and replace unhealthy patterns with healthier ones, promoting respect and acceptance of each family member's unique identity.

Family Therapy can be an important resource if you and your family are navigating any of these common challenges:
Communication issues | Blending families / Step parenting | Adjusting to a new living situation | Misunderstanding and arguing | Changing family roles and rules | Bullying | Sibling relationships | Parent-Child relationships | Life transitions / coping with change | Grief and loss | Divorce | Change of guardianship | Financial stress

"And suddenly you know: It's time to start something new and trust the magic of beginnings."
- Meister Eckhart
